Web Scraping
Scrape website data into a spreadsheet
Spreadsheets are a useful destination when the dataset is moderate in size and people need to sort, filter, annotate, or hand off the results.
Design columns before extraction
Give each column one stable meaning. Avoid mixing free-form notes with machine-updated fields.
Choose refresh behavior
For recurring jobs, decide whether each run replaces the sheet, appends rows, or updates matching records.
Protect manual work
Keep human-entered notes in separate columns or tabs so automated refreshes do not overwrite them.
Watch scale
When sheets become slow or formulas fragile, move extraction output to a database or API-backed system and use the sheet as a view.
